“He said that the last thing she said was his name, and then she went under, and he didn’t see her anymore,” Naya’s ex, Ryan Dorsey, told People. “It just rocks my world that he had to witness her last moments.
“He feels like he could have saved her. I think she just got caught up in a brush — that or a weird undercurrent from the dam. It was just a freak occurrence.”
The hotel manager had previously called police to report an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of substances and alcohol.” Two men accused of supplying the singer with illegal substances remain in prison, facing prosecution and a probable trial.
If found guilty, the men, a waiter and a hotel worker, could face prison sentences of between 4 and 15 years.
Liam’s body was repatriated to the United Kingdom on November 6, 2024, and his funeral was held at Saint Mary’s Church in Buckinghamshire.
