Italian researchers employing Wide-Angle X-ray Scattering (WAXS) may have upended long-standing views on the Shroud of Turin’s origins. Although 1988 radiocarbon dating suggested a medieval timeframe of 1260 to 1390 AD, the new study implies that this ancient linen could date back to 55-74 AD, potentially coinciding with the time of Christ. This unexpected finding rekindles discussions about the Shroud’s authenticity and challenges previous conclusions. The enigmatic image it bears, resembling a crucified man, continues to perplex experts. While this research is groundbreaking, further studies are necessary to validate these remarkable claims regarding this historical artifact.
