Police have shared an update on missing The X Factor star Levi Davis two years after his disappearance.

Aged 24 at the time, the rugby union player vanished in 2022 after last being seen on CCTV in Barcelona on 29 October.

Following the sighting of him leaving The Old Irish Pub on La Rambla at 10:05pm, that was the last night he had any known contact with his friends or family. Police then began an investigation into his whereabouts.

Davis, who appeared on Simon Cowell’s singing contest for the celebrity edition in 2019, had travelled to the Spanish city from Ibiza with just £35 in his pocket and no change of clothes.

Despite a search involving police divers in Barcelona’s port, the court investigation came to a standstill. This underwater search came as a result of fears Davis was the man spotted by crew on a passenger cruise liner having difficulties in the water.

However, while the case remains open now, it is currently inactive and unsolved.

And this week, court officials confirmed their probe stays suspended and will only be reactivated if any new information comes about.

As per The Mirror, police said they aren’t planning to use the upcoming milestone anniversary of the former Bath winger’s disappearance to make a public appeal for information as they have ‘nothing new to offer’.

A spokesperson for the investigating magistrate at the city court which had been probing Davis’ disappearance said on Thursday (24 October): “There are no updates in this case. It’s still provisionally archived.”

The Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan police force Levi’s disappearance was reported to, also said: “Our investigation remains open but we have nothing new we can tell you about.

“There are no plans for a public appeal for information coinciding with the second anniversary of Levi’s disappearance.”

And a police source added to The Mirror: “No one is actively working on this case police-wise or in the courts on a day-to-day basis. That doesn’t mean police won’t look into any new information that comes their way. But the last big push was 17 months ago with the port searches.”

Earlier this year, Davis’ family were in talks to take part in a documentary about the rugby player’s disappearance.

A close source to his mum, Julie, was quoted in May saying she had been approached by a production company, adding: “We are waiting for the opportunity that affords the best chance of finding out what happened.”
