Elizabeth Short, an aspiring actress, was found brutally murdered in Los Angeles in 1947. The gruesome details of her death shocked the nation, earning her the infamous nickname “The Black Dahlia.” 

Investigators pursued countless leads, even interrogating celebrities, but her killer was never identified. The case remains a dark, unsolved chapter in Hollywood lore.

The 1996 murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey in her family’s Colorado home sparked endless speculation. A ransom note, the circumstances of her death, and conflicting theories about who might be responsible fueled the media frenzy. 

Despite significant public interest and advances in forensic science, the case remains open, leaving her family and the public to wonder what truly happened. 

5. The Tylenol Murders

In 1982, seven people in Chicago died after taking cyanide-laced Tylenol capsules. This case not only changed how medicine is packaged but also highlighted vulnerabilities in public safety. 

Although authorities pursued various suspects, no one was ever charged. The crime sent shockwaves through the pharmaceutical industry, leaving a permanent mark. 

6. The Axeman of New Orleans

From 1918 to 1919, a mysterious figure wielding an axe targeted households in New Orleans. In a bizarre twist, he claimed in a letter that he would spare homes playing jazz music.
