Announced yesterday (16 June) by US leader Donald Trump‘s eldest sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, the family are looking to capitalise on their famous last name by entering the mobile network market.
According to the brand’s press release, the president’s sons are promising an ‘all-American’ phone carrier and device to honour the tenth anniversary of the 79-year-old’s decision to run for The White House.
The venture is the latest in a long line of baffling announcements from the family, which has included selling ‘Trump’ branded bibles and steaks.

The announcement allows Americans looking for a patriotic mobile plan to sign up for ‘The 47 Plan’ which promises unlimited text, calls and data without having to complete a credit check.
Which certainly sounds like a robust foundation for your business.
There’s also the option to get your hands on the first ever Trump branded phone, the golden and US flag emblazoned T1 Mobile.
Yours for just $499 (£368).

Imagine being on a date and the other person pulls out this (Trump Mobile)
One can only imagine the reaction you’d get if you whipped one of those out in public.
The Trump mobile phone has of course gone viral in the hours following its release – and the reactions aren’t good.
“How is this legal,” wrote one person underneath an Instagram post detailing the announcement.
“Doesn’t matter what political party you are, this is just weird,” wrote a second person, while a third penned: “Are presidents supposed to be selling us products like this?”
“America is a Black Mirror episode,” added a fourth person.
Meanwhile Redditors were suggesting even more nefarious motivations behind the move, with one person writing: “I’m very curious to read the T’s&C’s of this. A cell phone may seem like an odd business venture, but it’s a goldmine of personal data I’m sure the Trump family could leverage for personal gain.”

The organisation claims one of the key selling points of the mobile will be that it’s ‘proudly designed and built in the United States’, a move which the BBC is claiming would be ‘virtually impossible’ to pull off.
“They don’t even have a working prototype. It’s extremely unlikely,” Professor Tinglong Dai told the broadcaster of the Trump family’s bold plans.
The Trump organisation didn’t release any further details about how the phone would be manufactured and made, but promised users would receive their handsets by August.
Which seems like a bold turnaround considering the only images of the T1 phone resemble an AI-generated merging of existing Apple and Android models currently on the market.
