  • 1973: Mariner 10, launched by NASA in November 1973 to study Mercury and Venus, makes its first flyby of the planet. This helps scientists understand more about these planet’s atmospheres.
  • 2014: The European Space Agency made history with its groundbreaking mission. The Philae lander was deployed from the Rosetta spacecraft and eventually touched down on the surface of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
