One of the most popular adult film stars in the industry has opened up on why she decided to swivel her content away from filming with men.

Julia Ann is an American adult actor who has had a three-decade-strong career in the industry so far, having made a name for herself as part of the duo ‘Blondage’ alongside fellow star Janine Lindemulder.

It’s an industry that’s controversial to say the least, with many former stars later admitting that they regretted being a part of it at all, with others declaring that venturing onto OnlyFans is the way forward.

Julia is among a whole host of people who have been speaking out on their time in front of the camera, and explained that as time has gone on, she’s opted to stop filming scenes with men altogether and now makes content exclusively with women.

She’s not the only one either, with fellow adult star Riley Reid also revealing she had made a similar move.

Who is Julia Ann?

55-year-old Julia, who is from California, is considered to be one of the most well-known adult film stars of all time.

She made a name for herself over 30 years ago as one half of the famous stripping duo ‘Blondage’, alongside Janine Lindemulder – who you may recognise from an iconic Blink-182 album cover.

Over the course of Julia’s career she’s been handed a slew of accolades, including being inducted into the AVN, XRCO, NightMoves, and Brazzers Halls of Fame for her work.

Why did Julia Ann stop filming scenes with men?

During her appearance on the Holly Randall Unfiltered podcast, she opened up about the sad reason why she started filming with female colleagues only.

“As a woman who was getting older and one who hates the gym, I was finding that I couldn’t control where my fat was going in a scene with guys,” she said.

She admitted the decision came after she got married, though insisted it had nothing to do with her choice.

Julia went on: “This is my reality and no bulls**t.

“When I have sex with a girl, I can position myself, I can work it a certain way, I can be a little bit more, ‘Oh, how you doing today’,” she explained.

“But when a guy’s behind you, it’s just [doink doink doink] and stuff is just happening and I can feel it happening,” the former exotic dancer explained.

Julia and podcast host Randall, who is also an experienced porn star, both spoke about the difficulties they had with their body image during the episode.

The latter admitted that ‘more seasoned guys’ will put you in positions ‘to open you up on camera’, which is okay ‘when you’re thin and little and petite’.

Julia then replied: “Yeah and after menopause, your body moves separate from itself.”

What did Riley Reid say about filming with men?

Adult star Reid also made the switch to girls-only content, opening up on a 2021 episode of Jordyn Jones’ What They Don’t Tell You podcast about the move.

She admitted: “It was a choice I made on my own.

“But I made that choice because I was lonely and I wanted love and affection and stuff and I was like, ‘I’m not gonna be able to find this while I’m performing.'”

Reid added that ‘dating was really hard’ as a lot of people she met had a preconceived idea of who she should be.

“Especially as I grew a name for myself, it was hard to meet someone who [didn’t] know who I was,” the 33-year-old said.

“And so there was always that, like, fandom. They met me first in their mind as Riley, so it was really hard to like reverse and teach them that I’m Ashley.”
