What Unseen Horror Erupted After Man Threw Food Off Oil Rig – Ocean Never the Same Again
Ever stared into the ocean and wondered, “What on Earth—or beneath it—is lurking down there?” If you’re anything like me, the deep sea is less ‘Finding Nemo’ and more ‘Finding Nope’—and yeah, I blame you for feeling that way. Thanks to GoPros, we’re now uncomfortably gifted with an up-close look at the murky, mysterious world below the waves—where silence can be haunting, and sharks occasionally get way too cozy for comfort. Turns out, about five to ten percent of us suffer from thalassophobia, the fancy term for a crippling fear of deep water. Think you’re immune? Next time at the beach, try going beyond where your toes actually touch the sand. Spooky, right? Honestly, I’m still debating whether my cautiousness is justified or if I’m just scared of the unknown—considering we’ve only explored a tiny fraction of the ocean’s secrets. Now, add a video of a guy chucking what looks like a snack off an oil rig, sparking an underwater frenzy, and suddenly that dip you planned doesn’t seem so appealing. But hey, if you’re not chicken nugget-shaped, you might just survive the chaos below. Curious to see the depths and drama for yourself? LEARN MORE.
A lot of people are scared of the deep sea, and if you’re one of them, I really don’t blame you.
Thanks to the invention of GoPros, we have the luxury (or curse) of seeing exactly what’s going on beneath sea level.
We’ve seen everything from the haunting silence of the deep sea to sharks getting too up close and personal for our liking.
It’s said that a good five to 10 per cent of people around the world have thalassophobia, that is, a massive fear of deep bodies of water.
If you don’t think that’s you, then try swimming deeper than where your toes can reach on your next trip to the beach. Exactly.
Maybe I’m being a bit too cautious, or scared, of what might be in our seas. After all, we’ve only explored around five to 20 per cent of our oceans, depending on who you ask.

Now, a video of a man dropping a bit of food off an oil rig has resurfaced on Reddit.
Social media viewers have been left shocked at the harsh realities of the sea – if only it were more similar to Finding Nemo.
While many are scared of sharks, just as many people are scared of jellyfish and drowning when it comes to the ocean, according to a University of South Australia survey.
In this video, though, the man is safely standing on the oil rig and simply drops a bit of food through the grill.
If you’ve got a fear of heights and the sea, you might feel better if you turned your device off and went for a walk.
The man films the food falling hundreds of feet before landing in the water, in what looks to be a flapjack, cookie, or even a chicken nugget.

Survival of the fittest and all that (Reddit)
Nothing happened until it made contact with the water, as hundreds of idle fish seemed to react and fight one another for the food, thrashing around in the formerly calm water.
Just like that, viewers were completely unsettled by the sight of so many fish darting towards the same spot to get a nibble of the man’s leftovers.
People have then started to reconsider whether a dip into the sea is worth it at all, after seeing the empty waters become so intense and unsettling all of a sudden.
One took to the comments, saying: “Note to self: don’t fall off an oil rig.”
“That fell way farther down than I expected,” a second pointed out, as another Redditor added: “That metal floor is the difference between you living another day or turning into fish food.”
A fourth penned: “Bro singlehandedly caused an all-out war down there.”
In all fairness, if you’re not a chicken nugget, you might stand a chance against these small fish.
