WhatsApp recently rolled out a new update which they expected would be particularly useful in group chats, but not everyone is a fan as some users have branded it ‘annoying’.
It’s one of the most popular messaging apps in the world and for some people it’s pretty much rendered their phone’s standard texting abilities obsolete.
But now a new feature is making some users feel ‘seasick’. One person just responded ‘no’ to the update, while another said it was ‘acc so ugly ugh’.

Remember how upset people were when WhatsApp changed the words ‘online’ and ‘typing’ from lower to upper case, so much so they ended up reversing it?
Well, despite users of the messaging app clearly losing their minds over every minor change, Meta has hit them with another one.
WhatsApp recently released a new update which included ‘Typing Indicators’, which is a fancy way of saying those three little dots which appear on your screen when someone is writing you a message.
According to WhatsApp this change was brought in to make it easier to see who in the group chat was writing at a particular moment, as the profile pictures of people typing would appear next to the three dots.
Some users haven’t been big fans of the change as it rolled out to iOS and Android users, instead preferring the old ‘Typing’ feature which would appear at the top of the chat to tell you the same information.
While those hovering three dots is pretty standard for a lot of messaging apps it seems as though plenty really enjoyed the way WhatsApp did things.
“This dot dot dot bouncing up and down is getting to be annoying,” one person said of the change as they pleaded on social media for a return to the days of ‘so and so is typing’.
“NOOOOO I GOT THE THREE DOTS ON WHATSAPP,” was someone else’s response to the new but perhaps not improved app.

Another urged the app to ‘do away with the three waving dots’ as they complained that it made them feel ‘seasick’ and they found the old way it did things much more satisfying.
It seems as though a few folks are embracing the opportunity to be dramatic about this development as someone said: “I see the three dots on WhatsApp, yes, those three dots I hate the three dots.
“They hold too much power. Hope. Expectation. The possibility that they’re about to say something that will change my life forever.”
While there have been some complaints about the change there are people who actually approve of WhatsApp adding a feature that’s been in plenty of other messaging apps for a long time.
One said they ‘like the new feature’, while another wondered ‘how did it take WhatsApp 10 years to add the three dots showing something is typing’.
Whether you like it or not it seems as though this new feature is here to stay on the incredibly popular messaging site.
Besides, is it really that much of an impediment to see the three dots hovering instead of being told that someone is typing?
