“Why Did Sabrina Carpenter’s Bold Opening Performance Leave British Viewers Reeling?”
Sabrina Carpenter kicked off the 2025 Brit Awards with quite the bang—or should I say, quite the scandal? The 25-year-old pop sensation turned heads, and not exactly for all the right reasons. With a dazzling homage to the UK featuring Union Jack displays and dancers dressed as The King’s Guard, she definitely made her presence known at her debut on this illustrious stage. But just when you thought it was all fun and games, her steamy choreography, including some eyebrow-raising moments like lounging on a heart-shaped bed, sent a wave of concern through the audience, particularly among parents watching with their kids in tow. I mean, is this really the kind of “family-friendly” entertainment we expect before 9 PM? As social media erupted with mixed reactions—some parents covering their children’s eyes while others couldn’t get enough—one can’t help but wonder: What were the producers thinking? If Sabrina’s performance accomplished anything, it was certainly generating conversation! So, grab your popcorn and settle in as we delve deeper into the night that made waves beyond the O2 Arena. LEARN MORE.
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter had the honour of opening the 2025 Brit Awards tonight (1 March), but her performance has managed to ruffle a few feathers.
Paying homage to the UK with Union Jack displays and dancers dressed up as The King’s Guard, the 25-year-old certainly made her mark during her debut at the awards show.
Belting out hits such as ‘Espresso’ and ‘Bed Chem’, Carpenter certainly set pulses racing…and the blood pressure of a host of parents through the roof.
Loads of viewers aren’t too happy with some of the singer’s saucy moves on the stage, seen as though the Brits are airing before 9pm live on ITV.
Alongside several dancers, Carpenter did some impressive choreography which involved having her legs in the air while lay on a heart-shaped bed.
Needless to say, more than a few parents have took to social media to complain about having to race to cover their kids eyes.
In a post on X, one said: “I mean Sabrina carpenter is a babe, but when your sat with your child watching her performance on the Brits.”

Another wrote: “Can anyone explain to me how this is allowed pre-watershed?”
A third added: “Completely inappropriate performance by Sabrina Carpenter. Pre-watershed and a lot of explaining to a 9 year old!”
A fourth commented: “So obsessed thinking about middle aged people sitting down to watch the brits and being welcomed by a scantily clad Sabrina Carpenter going down on a beefeater.”
And a fifth chimed in: “Mum didn’t approve of Sabrina Carpenter’s dancing, I certainly did…”
As you can see, it seems the nation is a bit divided on whether the performance was appropriate for youngsters or not.
Carpenter certainly got a great reception from the crowd at London‘s O2 Arena though, which is where the Brits are being held tonight.
Jack Whitehall is taking on hosting duties once again, which makes it his fifth time at the helm.

Carpenter won’t leave the Brits empty handed tonight, as she’s taking home the Global Success Award.
She’s following in the footsteps of stars including Adele and Ed Sheeran, but the ‘Nonsense’ singer is the first-ever international artist to receive the gong.
Chair of the BRIT Committee for 2025 Damian Christian previously said of Carpenter’s win: “Congratulations to Sabrina on winning this prestigious award.
“Everyone involved in the show is looking forward to her performance, which promises to be one of the highlights of the night.”
I guess he wasn’t kidding, eh?
LADbible have contacted Carpenter’s representatives and ITV for comment.
