Netflix users are rushing to binge-watch a popular comedy-drama series before it leaves the streaming platform later this month.

It’s no doubt that streaming sites have provided us with an abundance of TV series and films to fill our evenings, without having to fork out and fill our living rooms with numerous boxsets.

However the downside of streaming is that you don’t own a copy of your favourite film of TV show, which means the announcement of its removal can be pretty devastating.

Which is exactly what fans of a mid-2000s detective comedy series Psych, starring James Roday Rodriguez, Dulé Hill, Maggie Lawson and Corbin Bernsen are currently experiencing.

Originally premiering back in 2006, Psych ran for eight seasons until 2014 (remember when shows released a season every year?) and follows the story of Shawn Spencer (Rodriguez), a bloke who lands a job with a California police department after convincing people he possess psychic abilities which can solve cases thanks to his observational skills and photographic memory.

He is accompanied on his adventures by childhood best friend and reluctant partner Gus (Hill) as they solve numerous crimes for the local police force.

The series went on to be a huge hit with both fans and critics, scoring a 94 percent audience score on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

Seasons two, three, five and six even have the perfect 100 percent, which is a pretty impressive feat.

“I started watching Psych on Netflix a couple weeks ago and I can’t believe I’d never heard of this show,” wrote on viewer on X last year, adding: “Each episode is a murder/crime mystery, with a genius who solves what the police can’t AND it’s lighthearted/hilarious?? It’s so good.”

This user wasn’t the only person raving about the show either, with another person replying: “Psych is one of the best shows you’ll ever watch.”

“It’s my comfort show. Nearly every episode is a must watch. Great guest stars and a perfect musical special,” a third added.

However if this series sounds like something you’d enjoy then act fast, as Netflix has confirmed the series will be leaving the platform on 30 April. Which means you’ve got just over three weeks to watch all 120 episodes.

The news hasn’t gone down too well among viewers, with one fan sharing a screengrab of the announcement alongside the tweet: “NO WHAT THE F**K PSYCH IS LEAVING NETFLIX ON APRIL 30TH.”

“Netflix removing Psych should be considered a crime,” penned a second fan, while a third added: “Wtf do u mean Psych is leaving Netflix soon…”
