Although you’d hope that people aren’t timing the length of their sex sessions by their watch, how long it takes on average is a very popular talking point.
Lads and ladies often have different ideas about the ideal duration, but thankfully, science can help settle this debate.
Back in 2020, boffins decided to try to find out how long ladies could make love for.
Researchers acquired data from 645 different women from various countries around the world by picking their brains about their sex lives – and timing their lovemaking with a stopwatch.
Among other bombshell findings, the experts found that 17 per cent of the participants had never experienced an orgasm, which is a downright tragedy.
But even more interestingly, the research, which was published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, revealed how long women like to roll around the sheets for.

While the average man can last in bed for just under 20 minutes, on average, women reach orgasm in 13 minutes and 41 seconds, according to the study – but to get here, it required a fair degree of foreplay rather than just straight-up sex.
Still, it’s important to remember that we’re all different, and genetics, anatomy and personal preference are just a few other factors that impact the length of time it takes couples to do the business.
Even though a lot of women can apparently finish in just shy of 14 minutes, it turns out that generally, they would like intercourse to last a fair bit longer than that.
Further research conducted by SaucyDates.com focused on how long the average female wants it to last, rather than just how long a woman can physically go for.
A survey of 3,836 people found that ladies would actually prefer to fool around for an average of 25 minutes and 51 seconds.

So, there seems to be a 12-minute and 10-second discrepancy.
Research in this realm certainly gives us food for thought, but it’s important to remember that everyone’s idea of the perfect sex session is different.
You know, different strokes for different folks and all of that.
Even when several sex experts sat down to discuss their thoughts on how long sexual intercourse should last for the average couple, each one had a slightly different perspective.
So as long as you and your partner are happy with how long you are spending having sex, you shouldn’t worry too much about the timings.
