WWE’s Brie Bella Rushed to Hospital After Bizarre Medical Emergency Leaves Fans Stunned
What is it with wrestlers and finding themselves in utterly unpredictable situations, right? One minute, Brie Bella—aka Brianna Monique Danielson—is soaking up applause at WWE’s SummerSlam, breaking her scapula and toughing it out, the next she’s facing down one of the most mortifying mishaps a body can throw at you… quite literally. Ever wondered what happens when “gluten-friendly” turns out to be not so friendly, and the universe serves you its own kind of smackdown at home? Oh, I felt a cocktail of sympathy and second-hand embarrassment reading how Brie’s bravery in the ring was rivaled only by her candid storytelling about a dinner gone sideways (or, more accurately, south). This tale isn’t just about recovering from physical injury—it’s a collision of medical chaos, misunderstood menus, and family humor in the aftermath. If you’ve ever fumbled through a restaurant order with dietary hopes only to end up, say, hospital-bound and the family punchline… trust me, you’re in quirky, honest company. There’s a wild ride ahead—LEARN MORE.
At the start of the month, Brie Bella revealed she had broken her scapula (the shoulder blade) at WWE’s SummerSlam in Minneapolis.
But while she’s been on a break to recover, she ended up in hospital for a totally different medical problem.
Real name Brianna Monique Danielson, the American wrestler said she passed out on the toilet at home after pooing so much, so quickly.
The mum-of-two had been out for dinner when she explained to the server that she is gluten-free, but it seems they didn’t quite get the difference between that and ‘gluten-friendly’.
Hopeful, Brie thought things were all clear and that her meal would be fine. But it seems that was not the case, as the WWE star said on her podcast with her twin sister, Nikki & Brie Show: “I thought I was good. Was not good.”

‘I’m about to die’
She explained that when she got back home, she had a ‘severe crazy pain’ in her stomach and just ‘knew it was coming’.
Brie had been early into her recovery from breaking her scapula during the six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam and so had been at home for pretty much a week.
“I haven’t used the restroom for eight days,” she recalled of the gluten incident, as per Fightful.
“My body went from zero to 1,000 on the toilet. What happens to me is I get really sick from both ends.
“I’m starting to feel like I’m about to pass out and I’m like, ‘BRYAN! BRYAN!’ He wasn’t coming [her husband, Bryan Danielson]. I’m about to die. I call him and am like, ‘I’m about to pass out.’ I hear him run.”
And as it goes, Brie did indeed pass out with her ‘pants down, on the toilet’. Luckily, Bryan called for the family’s nanny, who is in nursing school.

“I was definitely her first patient. She got a close look at what happens to the body. They carry me to my bed, and I’m completely out. Bryan calls 911,” Brie continued on the podcast.
“I had blacked out and am not responding. My kids are screaming.”
The paramedics were then coming into her home as she was ‘incoherent’, waking up to some degree.
“I get put into a wheelchair and then a stretcher,” she continued. “Bryan is telling them, ‘She has a broken scapula, be careful with her.’ I guess I screamed out because of how they grabbed it.”
In the ambulance, Brie realised there was a bad smell and they confessed to her that she did end up pooing herself – waking her right up.
“I got a lot out, which made me pass out, because of how much came out of me. I get to the hospital and they’re reassuring me this is normal,” she added.
When her husband joined her at the hospital, he ended up having to clean her up, as she’d had to have tests, ‘two IV bags and medicine’ before it.
“My kids are making jokes. Bryan, when I get home from the hospital, is like, ‘I guess we can now say mummy poops her pants.’ It’s now the joke in the family,” Brie said.
She may be laughing about it now, but the WWE star admits it was ‘scary’ at the time, adding to her scapula recovery.
