The man at the centre of a row after taking his two daughters into the women’s bathroom is now petitioning for the creation of family restrooms.
If you haven’t seen the viral video, US dad Tyler Brodsky went viral after uploading a video he’d filmed of a confrontation with an unnamed man after taking his two young daughters into a women’s bathroom at a service station.
The video begins with Brodsky helping his daughters wash their hands while the disgruntled man is standing behind him on the phone to the police, claiming that his wife and mother-in-law feel unsafe using the restroom while he is inside.
“There is a man with his two little girls using the women’s bathroom. He is washing his hands with his daughters right now,” the man can be heard saying at the start of the clip.
“[My wife] is waiting to use the restroom with her mother who is very ill, who is on life support. He is refusing [to leave] and taking his sweet time.”

Since going viral, the video has led to several repercussions, including the man losing his job at a real estate company, the mother of the two daughters calling out Brodsky for sharing their faces on the internet, and Brodsky setting up a GoFundMe for his daughters and the service station attendant who helped them out.
The incident has also sparked a wider debate on what parents are expected to do when their child of the opposite sex needs to use the bathroom, something which Brodsky is hoping to change.
Following the global attention his situation has received, Brodsky has created an online petition calling for the creation of family bathrooms in public spaces.
Outlining his arguments on Change.org, Brodsky wrote: “Every day, parents, grandparents, caregivers, and individuals assisting loved ones face a challenge that is often overlooked: finding a safe, private restroom when caring for someone of the opposite sex or someone who needs assistance.
“While many businesses have made great strides by adding family restrooms, countless public places still do not offer this option.

He continued: “Families are often left with impossible choices that can lead to uncomfortable, stressful, and sometimes unsafe situations.”
Brodsky then argued that newly built or renovated public toilets should include a family restroom ‘wherever practical’ as well as considering the needs of families and caregivers when designing future public facilities.
“This petition is not about placing blame on any business or individual. It is about finding practical solutions that make public spaces more welcoming, accessible, and family-friendly for everyone,” he added.
Since its creation, the petition, which lists US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance as the decision-makers, has received over 1,700 signatures.

Meanwhile, Brodsky has also hit back at criticism from his ex-partner, insisting that he is not exploiting the situation involving his children for financial gain.
“I’m not going to get into a public back-and-forth with the mother of my children. My focus has always been, and will continue to be, our daughters,” he told MailOnline.
“As for the financial accusations, those are simply not accurate.”
