US President Donald Trump took time out of his UN speech in a bizarre address announcing he would be renaming AI (Artificial Intelligence).
He rejected any effort to establish an international scheme to control artificial intelligence, which he said he wants to rename ‘super intelligence’.
Trump added that all US government documents will now be changed to refer to ‘SI’ not ‘AI’, describing the tool as ‘actually amazing’.
In his address to the United Nations General Assembly, the US leader said: “The United States also totally rejects any attempt to construct a globalist scheme to control for the artificial intelligence being spoken of so much now, here and after officially called super intelligence.
“Changing the name in that the use of the word artificial makes intelligence fake. It makes it sound fake, and it is not fake.
“It’s actually amazing, but we have to be careful. In fact, it is exactly the opposite of what it purports.
“From this point forward, all of United States documents and hopefully the world’s will be changed to use the much more accurate term ‘super’ as opposed to ‘artificial’. So it’s super intelligence.”
While he said that ‘every major new technology brings challenges, he likened those ‘who said we’ll all be dead in 12 years because of global warming’ to those who ‘are now saying that AI is going to kill us all’.
He went on to explain that the US will also ‘encourage’ use of artificial intelligence and will not ‘rein it in’.
“We will only encourage super intelligence,” he continued. “We’re going to watch it closely through the Department of Justice.
“The United States leads the world in super intelligence, and we’ll continue to do so safely and responsibly.

“Americans have never been a nation that retreats from a frontier or shrinks from a challenge, no matter how great or how daunting that challenge may be.”
It’s not the first time the President decided to re-name something. During his second term in office, he issued a series of executive orders aimed at renaming geographic landmarks, military infrastructure, federal concepts, and cultural institutions.
Amid an escalating trade war with Canada, Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to adopt Lake America instead of Lake Ontario.
He also signed an executive order to rename the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America.
Meanwhile, Palm Beach international airport was formally renamed the President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
And the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts was also changed to include Trump’s name.
The annual event was temporarily dubbed the “Trump Kennedy Center Honors” before a federal judge ruled the renaming illegal.
