GTA Fans Shocked: The Unexpected Console Overhaul You Must Do Before Launch Day!

So, Grand Theft Auto VI is barreling down the release chute, with a launch date locked in for November 19, 2026—and fans? Oh, they’re not just hyped; they’re rallying online, ready to make “sacrifices” that sound suspiciously like freeing up every gigabyte they can find. Because word on the digital street is this beast of a game could demand a staggering 210 gigabytes of your precious console storage. To put it mildly, that’s less “just download and play,” and more “better start deleting those dusty games you swore you’d revisit someday.” If you thought your PS5’s hard drive was cozy before, this might just turn into a storage war zone. How does one even compress a game this mammoth in the age of technology? Ah, the eternal mystery. Buckle up, gamers—looks like the countdown isn’t just for launch, but for an epic digital spring cleaning session, too. LEARN MORE

Grand Theft Auto fans are flocking online ready to make ‘sacrifices’ ahead of the upcoming release of GTA VI.

Grand Theft Auto VI is officially set to launch on 19 November, 2026 and gamers are counting down the days, the anticipation for the latest instalment of the game having been building for years.

Alongside a woman warning about the game to all girls with boyfriends, alongside a historic change rocking the boat, the upcoming release has certainly stirred the pot.

And it may do even further if the latest rumour is true about the size of the game.

Preloading for the game is expected to commence on 12 November, ahead of its official release on 19 November. And once you see how big the size of the game is, you may understand why.

In a post shared on October 27 by PlayStation Game Size, it’s been revealed Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to have a download size of a whopping 210 GB.

It follows similar claims by GTA 6 leaker Cyberleek alleging the game is over 200 GB.

How GTA VI’s size compares to other games

To put that into perspective, GTA: Chinatown Wars came in at just 58.8MB, GTA: San Andrea measured 4.2 GB and Grand Theft Auto V (PS3) is 17.2 GB, as per a report by GTA VI-Galaxy on Facebook.

And if you wanted to compare it to the available space on your console itself, well, the latest game is set to take up nearly a third of the original PS5’s 667 GB of usable storage.

And it’s not taken long for gamers to weigh in.

The reaction to GTA VI’s rumoured size

One X user said: “Sacrifices had to be made.”

Another commented: “With all the technology we have today and we STILL don’t know how to compress games this big..”

A third defended: “Red dead 2 already needed about 105 gb back in 2018, so rockstar doubling it is right on pace. 210 gb is roughly a quarter of a launch ps5’s 825 gb drive for one game.”

A fourth resolved: “210 GB is the push I needed to finally delete the 14 games I swore I’d ‘get back to someday.’ Rest in peace, every half-finished save file since 2021.”

Indeed, given the game’s hefty storage size, gamers will likely need to go and do some autumnal cleaning of their consoles in order to make room and ensure they can be sat down ready to play on 19 November.
