Lindsay Clancy’s defence lawyer has spoken out about the social media conspiracy theories regarding her ex-husband Patrick.
After almost six weeks, the Clancy trial was officially declared a mistrial after the jury of nine women and three men failed to reach a unanimous verdict.
The case, which garnered an incredible amount of interest across the globe, centred on the deaths of Clancy’s three children – Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan – in January 2023.
At trial, Clancy’s defence team didn’t deny she killed the three children, but argued she should not be held criminally responsible as she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and severe mental illness.
However, despite Clancy’s own defence not disputing she was behind the killings, wild theories began to crop up on social media accusing their father Patrick.

Speaking out after the mistrial was announced, Clancy’s defence lawyer Kevin Reddington has said his client is aware of the online theories.
“She knows, and it’s readily apparent that Patrick has been set upon and his life has been turned upside down into a nightmare that he doesn’t deserve. Period. Full stop,” he told NBC News.
Patrick was one of the first witnesses to testify in the trial, describing his ex-wife as a ‘very dedicated’ mother to their three kids.
In an interview with CBS News, Reddington said Clancy thought it ‘was just terrible what he was going through’ during the trial.
And he urged people to “stop with the speculation and horrific conspiracy allegations”.
“It’s horrific what this man has been going through and he’s entitled to move on with his life,” he said.
Reddington’s comments on the conspiracy theories come just days after Patrick’s lawyer Howard Cooper said he would take legal action against those found spreading the lies.
“Over the past months, Patrick Clancy and his family have been subjected to a relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign,” Cooper said.

“This campaign of misinformation has been launched and promoted by minor celebrities, so-called influencers and outright conspiracy theorists who appear intent on boosting their own social media profiles and potential profit by publishing what they know to be outright falsehoods that Patrick was somehow involved in the death of his young children and other vile claims.
“This campaign, now fuelled by insatiable media coverage, remains at a fever pitch and has resulted in real life threats to his reputation, livelihood, and life.”
He went on to say that Patrick had ‘no choice but to address this situation – with the clear goal of stopping injurious behaviour, creating accountability for lies that are self-serving to the perpetrators, and being able to return his attention to what matters: preserving the memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy and supporting other women facing perinatal mental health challenges’.
“Enough is enough – this spread of blatant and baseless falsehoods must stop,” he continued.
“Those responsible should understand that there will be consequences, and every appropriate measure will be pursued to hold them accountable, including legally. Law enforcement has been notified.”
