Marseglia also said to CNN that in his 25-year career, he had never encountered a forged archaeological site.
Malosso was convicted in 2019 and lost an appeal in 2020. He made a final appeal to Italy’s supreme court, but it too rejected his arguments.
The court reaffirmed Malosso’s original sentence, which includes a 28-month jail term and a fine of 3,000 euros, or $3,462.
The site has been sequestered and Malosso was ordered to tear down his theater, but it’s unclear how that will happen. The mayor of the town reportedly has said he will not use public money for the demolition.
