Secret Spells and Rising Tensions: ‘Witch’ Housemate Ignites Chaos in Big Brother House

Secret Spells and Rising Tensions: ‘Witch’ Housemate Ignites Chaos in Big Brother House

Witch, please! Did you ever think you’d witness a reality TV standoff fueled by spiritual identities, flying broomstick references, and the simmering power struggle of the matriarchy—all before anyone’s even had their morning coffee? Welcome to this season of Big Brother, where the cauldron’s bubbling over and it’s not just because someone left the kettle on.

After the latest eviction, Twinks and Catrin waltzed into the Big Brother house, and mere minutes later, the mystical drama erupted. Twinks’ unapologetic “I identify as a witch” sent shockwaves through the house—ensnaring roommates in a relentless debate about labels, belief, and what exactly counts as a witch these days. (Have you noticed that, thanks to social media, being witchy is officially having a moment? Someone call Merriam-Webster—they might need to update the entry.)

But wait, there’s more! Defenders and skeptics squared off faster than you could say “double, double toil and trouble.” Suddenly, a conversation about energy became a house-wide referendum on magic, matriarchy, and whether one’s worth is judged by how fast they can broomstick around a living room. Is this what happens when spiritual empowerment meets confined quarters and camera crews? Or are we all just looking for a little magic in our mundane?

For every housemate’s fiery hot take and the latest on why this season’s been pure, unfiltered chaos—from witch hunts (literally) to tennis-ball-toting superfans— LEARN MORE.

It’s all kicking off on Big Brother once again, after new housemate Twinks’ witchy admission divides the cast.

Following Johanne’s eviction on Friday (2 October), new housemates Twinks and Catrin made their way into the Big Brother house, with the aftermath of their arrival being broadcast in tonight’s episode.

And surprise, surprise, there’s more drama on the way.

During a conversation between Twinks, Harry and Frankie, the conversation of religion crops up, with Harry asking the new arrival whether or not she’s a woman of god, to which the 36-year-old responds: “No. I identify as a witch.”

An admission which isn’t the most left-field these days, given the rapid growth of neo-paganism and spiritual beliefs online.

Curious about her admission, Frankie then responds by asking Twinks if she has any ‘clair-visual abilities’, to which she replies by explaining that she believes in ‘the power of people’.

“I believe in energy,” Twinks explained. “I believe in the power of people. You know, I believe in, like, how can we believe it’s not just us out there, but I’m not, I’m not like classically, traditionally religious.”

Word of Twinks’ spiritual identity spread through the house like wildfire – and it soon became apparent that not everyone agreed with her worldview.

“I got told that you’re a witch,” Omar questioned during a conversation between himself, Twinks and Yasmin in the garden.

“I’m just a powerful woman, babe,” Twinks then replied. “If you’re scared of witches, then you’re scared of the matriarchy.”

She continued: “All the women in my life I believe are powerful witches in their own right.”

However, Omar wasn’t done with the topic and decided to push further, asking Twinks if she’d ever ridden on a broomstick.

Twinks was unimpressed by the comment, saying that she ‘didn’t want to do this’ as the 21-year-old said that, in his view, the word witch has a negative connotation.

The fallout didn’t end there either, as Yasmin decided to jump in and defend Twinks, telling Omar: “That was so unnecessary… That was actually not needed.”

Omar still refused to drop the topic, later telling housemates in the bedroom: “A witch is something negative… not to me, to the dictionary.

A quick Google search for the dictionary later, and it would appear that Omar is half-right, as the word is described as a ‘woman who is believed to have magical powers and who uses them to harm or help other people’.

“That’s what witches do,” he added in reference to the earlier broomstick comment.

“Have some respect,” Yasmin shot back.

The dispute is the latest in a long line of arguments that have made up a completely chaotic season of Big Brother.

Earlier in the season, celebrity guests Jedward caused pandemonium in the house after their comments caused a shouting (splashing) match with housemate Lynx.

Meanwhile, ITV has been forced to step in after various security breaches around the house, which included fans throwing tennis balls with messages into the garden.

Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
