One of Australia’s most popular influencers has been exposed as a fake after amassing thousands of followers and directing people to a private subscription site.
Bindi Raye styles herself as a 20-year-old ‘fly-in, fly-out’ (FIFO) worker living the life in Australia where she flies into a remote workplace for a set number of days and then is flown back home.
It’s an unorthodox working arrangement but it’s a good way to make money as long as you’re willing to plan your life around it, and Raye’s social media accounts featured pictures of her on nights out, her in high-vis jackets from her job and various snaps of places she’d visited.
Very often the content of her in high-vis clothing would have her insufficiently buttoned up and revealing parts of her chest, so it’s little surprise that she amassed over 80,000 followers.
However, an investigation from ABC found that this popular influencer who has opinion on the food served in her FIFO job, has a favourite sports team she goes to see and goes drinking wine with her friends found that she’s not real.

Bindi Raye is an AI-generated influencer designed to draw in followers and send them to a website called Fanvue, where they can pay a subscription to watch her porn videos.
The signs were there in her content, taking a closer look at text in the background showed it was misshapen gibberish as is so often the case with AI.
The AI-generated woman’s face would look different from post to post, and her high-vis jacket looked different as it would sometimes be a different piece of clothing that occasionally bore the logo of an actual mining company which operates on a FIFO basis.
They’ve told ABC they’ve never hired a ‘Bindi Raye’ or anyone who looks like the woman in the posts.
Instagram has started taking her posts down for violating their policies on not clarifying that the content being shown to people is AI.

Meta said it wasn’t against their rules to show AI-generated content, but if an account was posting ‘realistic AI-generated content’ then it had to be clear what was going on.
It appears as though the AI-generated influencer has responded to this, as it recently posted a series of pictures on Instagram with the caption: “One thing I’ve learned this week: don’t believe everything you hear.”
While some commenters seemed to have had the scales fall from their eyes and encouraged the account to ‘show us your real face’, plenty of others were lining up to give the artificial intelligence sycophantic comments praising her for her appearance.
This account is just one among many AI profiles created to gain followers and direct them towards subscription sites, and the more sophisticated AI becomes the harder it’ll be to tell real from fake.
