When fans think of Hook they almost always think of Robin Williams’ iconic performance as Peter, Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook, or even Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell.
For fans rewatching the 1991 classic however wondering whatever happened to the outstanding child actor who played Peter’s son Jack, the actor ended up not only quitting child acting, but becoming the very thing his character in the film hated, only to quit for that very reason.
Jack is played by Charlie Korsmo in the film who was just 12 years old when he filmed Hook, which became a nostalgic classic for a generation of viewers.
Korsmo had a stellar child acting career, appearing in the 1990 film Dick Tracey, What about Bob? and of course Hook, the film about a grown-up Peter Pan returning to Neverland after Captain Hook stole his kids.
Ultimately though he quit acting as a kid to try out a different career, but that doesn’t mean he’s never returned to Hollywood.

In the opening scenes of Hook Peter Pan has left Neverland and become a hot-shot Lawyer, leading his kids to hate him because he’s never home.
Whilst Korsmo’s home life is surely not up for comparison to the film, his professional career followed after this on-screen dad.
The actor quit acting in 1991 and went on to receive multiple degrees, including a juris doctorate degree which he eventually used to pass the bar and become a lawyer. He is now a professor of corporate law and corporate finance.
Though you may expect him to feel negatively about his film career considering his total right-turn in the years after appearing in Hook, he actually gives it a lot of credit, telling Chambers Associate regarding his ‘big break’ in law: “If I’m honest with myself, getting into the movies – I’m sure it has gotten my resume plucked out of the pile on more than one occasion.
“Plus, if I hadn’t had the money I made from movies to pay for college, I might have been forced to just go wherever I could get a football scholarship.” In an interview with People he actually said that after Hook he realised he had no friends his own age, leading him to want to go back to school and leave acting behind.

Speaking to a Youtuber Sienna Boccio in 2021, he actually compared his career to his on-screen dad, saying: “[Him and his wife] decided to move to New York, I worked as a lawyer for a couple of years.
“Then, when we wanted to have kids, working as a lawyer at a big law firm is… well, if you’ve seen Hook you know my father in Hook, Robin Williams, is a corporate lawyer.
“That is an accurate depiction of what a corporate lawyer’s life is. You never see your family, you’re working 3000 hours a year. I really didn’t want to do that.”

This inspired his decision to become a professor, but he still finds time to act in occasional projects, most recently taking a supporting role in A Different Man, the massively underrated Sebastian Stan, Renate Reinsve, and Adam Pearson film from 2024.
