The WWE is facing a legal battle after one of their tag-team stars Montez Ford is facing a lawsuit from a Cook County Sheriff for a moment where he gave the cop a lap dance live on air, a moment that the wrestling company later promoted on their social media and received millions of views.
Ford, whose real name is Kenneth Crawford is one half of the beloved WWE tag team The Street Profits. The incident, which was aired live on Netflix, took place earlier this year on 6 July, 2026, as they came out celebrating their newly won World Tag Team Championships.
The lawsuit alleges that the moment, in which Ford gyrates in the face of the sheriff with his belt, was unscripted and done on TV without his permission.
The officer Noel Lucas filed the suit, per Post Wrestling, alleging an ‘unwanted sexualized lap dance’ during Ford’s entrance.

Lucas alleges 14 counts, including assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Describing the incident, the suit says: “Defendant Crawford (Ford) then began performing a sexually provocative dance immediately in front of and over Plaintiff [Lucas], repeatedly thrusting and gyrating his hips and pelvis towards Plaintiff, performing a sexualized ‘lap dance.’
“[He] moved his body increasingly closer to [Lucas]; continued the lap dance,” and it alleges that his ‘left inner thigh repeatedly rubbed against Lucas’ leg.’
He claims that after the incident he was recognised from videos by members of the public, with these people mocking him and thrusting their hips in his direction.
Lucas also alleges that Ford’s actions led to his children being ‘mocked and ridiculed’.
In a statement provided to Post Wrestling, Lucas’ attorney states that he is a sheriff who was working a second job in private security when the encounter took place.
They said: “Like so many law enforcement officers, Mr. Lucas works a second job in order to better provide for his children,” explaining that he runs a team for a private security firm and was directly asked by a WWE employee to sit ringside.

The sheriff and security guard also filed suit against the WWE as they used recognisable video of his face to promote Ford on their social media platforms, claiming they ‘used his image for commercial purposes’ in violation of the Illinois Right of Publicity.
He has applied for an unspecified set of monetary damages, punitive damages, legal costs, and an order preventing WWE and the wrestler from using his identity.
